Food & waste

What do I do if I have my own party food and cake when I arrive?
Please leave your food and cake in car until you are ready to enter the marquee. On hot days please use cool boxes.

I’m having a party where I have to bring uncooked food, what do I bring and how to prepare?
You’ll need to bring pre-cooked sausages and marshmallows.

Do not leave food unattended
Beware that food should not be left unattended as there maybe some naughty dogs/magpies around!

Hiring re-usable equipment from the café
We would advise no single use plastic and the café team can hire re-useable equipment (plates, bowls, cups and jugs) for your party in the marquee, please contact the café team to book.

What do we do with rubbish?
There are recycling bins at the entrance/exit of the wood. There are no rubbish bins at the wood. All food waste/non recycling rubbish needs to be taken away with you whether you’re having a party tea in woods or when hiring the marquee. The café team will take away waste from paid for café party teas.

What should we wear?
Please dress appropriately for the weather, keeping warm and dry to maximise enjoyment.

What happens if the weather is bad?
We go out in most weather. Some areas of the wood are more sheltered and if not windy we can put up a tarp if needed. If there are high winds forecast parties will be cancelled and rescheduled.

How actively involved are the two parents you ask for?
The parents are to be actively involved and responsible for the children and their behaviour. The LLFS leader will provide the fun and leadership of group. More parents are welcome to come along and get involved if they wish. Parent/s share responsible of the children not leader.

When parties are for under 6’s what do the parents do?
Come along and get involved. Turn your mobile to silent and immerse yourself into the party! You won’t be disappointed.

Marquee & decoration

Can I decorate the marquee and get in there before I’ve booked it?
You can only access the marquee at the start time agreed when booking, as we may have another booking previous to yours. All decorations are to be taken down and taken away. We have a leave no trace policy at Wilderness Wood. We aim to try and reduce where we can, so where possible no single use plastic.

How can I decorate marquee?
Here are some fun ways to decorate marquee without plastic:
Make a banner with your child using card/paper pens.
Make paper chains.
Reusable straws.
Make some bunting with fabric or card.
You can hire re-usable eating equipment from the café.

Our ethos is for unique simple natural parties in the wilderness with family and friends, the simpler, the better for you and your child. Reduce plastic and stress!
